FINALE

Using your favorite metaphor, describe the most important lesson that you had learnt in your EIR journey.
This is it. Its almost the end of an exciting journey in EIR with Faridah, old, and new friends. EIR has really help and improve my research technique alot and i am really thankful and grateful for that, despite of it being 'leceh'.HAHAHA. The most important lesson to me is the using of different search facilities to help in my research. Before this i had only been using Google or Wiki for my research, but now more doors has been open up to me. The right way of typing in the search box is also important as it will get me better results and also learning which search facilities is for which. In all this whole experience has been an ENRICHING one! hope to use all the skills that i have learn in good use. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! that it PEACE & LOVE.

Write a paragraph summarizing your findings on your research topic.
With the research i have done i found out that youth gambling is really a big issue. There are people who are willing to help out there if someone wants to quit. Stuffs like mobile services is also there to help if a youth finds it hard to face a counselor. With my research i have now learn about how we can prevent or stop gambling problems among youth. To me quitting gambling is just like quitting smoking, it takes 100% maybe even more effort to quit, and with your friends and family behind you, you will be able to quit.

How has Twitter(micro-blogging) enhanced your learning of EIR?Compare this using your experience using Blogspot.
Well for me Twitter hasn't really enhanced much of my learning experience of EIR except that with Twitter i am able to know about updates in the class and also sharing my time with the class. Twitter to Blogspot? I'll prefer blog, well firstly i feel that i can connect with blogs better then twitter as i think that twitter is kinda 'flat' no feeling no nothing except that i know what the person is doing right now. Where as for blogs there are pictures, i think human need more images then words to feel.

How can you use twitter or blogspot for research purposes?
For Twitter we will be able to share links of the topics but we can't share the whole report of the findings due to the word limit. While on blog we can share almost everything, i can use it to share my findings, comments, images, videos and etc on the research topic.

Off for my Holiday!

Hahahahah. This is great, going to Anfield Road where Liverpool F.C home is. Going there has always been one of my dreams. Watching the match in the stadium is AWSOMENESS!Oh and by the way it is in England.

This Is Anfield Road

THIS IS ANFIELD STADIUM!!

Here's a little history lesson about Anfield stadium.

Liverpool Football Club were founded in May 1892 by John Houlding, who owned the Anfield Road stadium. Everton FC were the occupants at Anfield before this date but following a disagreement with Houlding they promptly moved across Stanley Park to a new home – Goodison Park.

Houlding was left with an empty stadium and so formed Liverpool Football Club. He appointed John McKenna, an Irishman with many links in Scottish football, McKenna used his links to form a ’squad’ of 13 players, of which 9 were Scottish.

In their first season the club won the second division championship – without losing a game! The first of 18 first division championships arrived at Anfield in season 1900-01, now under the management of Tom Watson, the team finished two points ahead of Sunderland. Five years before that Liverpool recorded their highest ever League win when they beat Rotherham United 10-1 in the second division (Feb 18th 1896).

Why Anfield?
Well if you ask me why Anfield? i would say that i am sick of always watching the match from TV and i would like to know the feeling of seating among the champions up close and personal and the thrill of watching it there live. Also getting a chance to watch players like, Insua(Liverpool's left back) defending, Torres(Liverpool's attack force!) scoring, Steven Gerard(captain) encouraging the other players and finally hearing Rafa(manager) shouting at the players!HAHAHAHAH!

4th reflection

Which criteria did you choose to evaluate Stomp.com?Why did you choose this criteria? What lessons have you learned from this activity?
The criteria i used is identifying stomp's purpose. Stomp's purpose is to bring Singaporeans together to talk about the happenings in Singapore. With this purpose it gets alot of visits as Singaporeans will like to talk about the happenings and also some time the news might be funny which will also brings out entertainment. Well for me i learned that a news website may not always be formal it can also be informal but at the same time getting the news out there.

How do you feel about sharing your views via Wiki?
Well i don't think that it is good to share as Wiki is a place to share information and i don't think that people care about your views and if they would they would ask.

3rd reflection

Do you think that it is more effective to search the invisible web(databasses) then using search engines, meta-search, or subject directories? Why?
Well i think that invisible web is effective as the results given are much more better as you will have to pay for it. But on the other hand using only one search facilities is not enough. With the other 3 in hand I will be able to get information for free and i might be better? People might be kind enough to share what they have found using invisible webs on blogs or forums. There for i do not think it is effective to a certain extent.

Will you use the invisible web(databasses) for research in your own respective diploma? Why?
I think i will, why not use what is there to use? If i use it i might find information which are good that will help me further in my research and get better grades.

2nd reflection

What benefits do you get when using different search facilities to search for resources related to your topic?
Using different search engine is the best way to do your research. Some search engine provides a wide range of results with the keywords typed while some narrows down to the specific information. Using different search engine will give you different and more information where you can compare and contrast to produce excellent results. It is also like asking different people to get different views.

What do you like best about collaborating on Wiki with other students who shares similar research topic as you?
Well i personally like the idea as i can learn more and find out what the other students have found as it will help me with my research and the fact that i can also contribute back. It is also interesting about editing not only your work but all the work on the page, so if i ever make a mistake maybe someone who is kind enough might correct me. The bad point is someone evil might 'sabo' you.

1st reflection and MCs

Hi guys, so sorry for this last min blogging. Well i was on MC for about 4 days due to an injury to my knee. I had a swollen ligament and a maybe a 50% chance of my lateral meniscus torn. So ya its pretty bad. Well i'm back now to talk about all the work and what i have learn while on MC and off.

This was on my first day on MC where the class learn about Google search, discussion forums and bibliography.

Well about the Google search its amazing to know how bracketing, using OR, AND in your search can help your search better. This really helps in my research.

Were you impressed by Google's search function/features?Why?
To me i didn't start off using Google, i started off using Yahoo when i was in primary school. Later on i started using Google in my secondary school and i was stuck with it since then. I was really attracted to its simple layout, its excellent user interface and i found out that actually Google gives me more results then Yahoo. So i am impressed with Google.

Google's search is a very useful tool. It is very easy to use and it offers alot of search functions such as web, images, maps, news and many more.

How do you feel about participation in discussion forum? Is it helpful for your research?Do you feel anxious about talking to others you don't know?
Participation in discussion forum is excellent, it helps you with your research. I have posted a forum myself and it really does help me alot, you might never know that someone who is a professional in the topic you asked, might reply to your thread. It actually excites me to wait for someone to reply, and talking to a total stranger online is not something I do everyday.Hahaha.

Why must you do citation and bibliography?
The reason why we do citation and bibliography is because we do not want to be caught for plagiarism. We have to acknowledge the work of people and if we do not do citation and bibliography it might look like we were the one who did the work where it actually is another story.
